Finally after a lot of birds my dog and I (and the help of a good friend who did the shooting while I handled the dog) had a great afternoon. Trigger pointed and flushed three hens for me. He held fast on point while I kicked the bushes and the grass and found no bird. I dragged him away frustrated that he must be after a mouse or something but when he insisted I kicked all through the bush and grass again and just when I was about to give up again, the bird blew out of the grass. My dog held point to the bitter end! This happened twice out of the three times. Awsome!
I learned a lot today.
