Water Retrieves

What months do you begin retrieving in the water again?

My dog hasn't been introduced to the water yet and I was wondering what would be a good month to start....or what water temp.?

I don't like putting a puppy in the water for the first time until the temp is around 55 degrees F or more. If it is too cold with a pup, it might turn them right off water for a while. I won't even put my older dogs in until it warms up to at least 50 degrees F. Warmer if I am doing long retrieves or drills.
different if they have to go in to retrieve a bird but if just training, why put them in freezing water? :boxing:

You know, I can tell the temperature outside in Celcius, but Water, and food temps are all F ;)
