Just wondering if anyone uses the product Rehydrate, the electrolyte for dogs and what their opinion is on it, AND how and when do you use it????
Here is the link for those who might want more information on it...

I have heard both sides of the story! I personally make sure that they are watered properly as you can really screw electrolyte balence up if you use something not intented for dog's, obviously do not sweat and eliminate heat the same as you or me. I have heard that Rehydtate was spicifcally formulated for performance dog's and it does work safely and effectively. I personally would use it if I were going to hunt peasants for a few days in the SD heat, but for daily moderate heat water is fine with a concious thought about too much work.

A couple of months ago I replied to post over on RTF about recieving a free sample of ReHydrate. I figured this would be a good way of trying it out to see if I liked it.
Once I got it in the mail I took Mercedes out for a training session during a hot day and figured this would be the best time to try it out. I set up a double mark ( 100 & 150 yard marks) and ran her thru them.
After the first run I gave her plain water. As typical she took a few drinks and then played in the water ( a bad habit of her's ). I them moved the line to add in a different factor and re ran the mark.
I then gave her a bowl of rehydrate ( after allowing the tablet to disolve) and too my amazement she damn near drank the whole bowl. Normally she would take a few drinks and that was all.
I did run a few other marks with her that day and I can not tell you if it helped her at all ( performance wise ) but I do know that she drank more water than usual.
Besides for the increased water intake I cannot say if it had any other effect on her. I did like the fact that she drank more and will use it on those hot summer day's . I now carry it in my truck incase I ever feel the need to make her drink more.
