To use the title AFTCH or FTCH do you need to win one Championship or is an accumulation of points involved? Also, do you have by invitation only Championships? Thanks.

Hey Case,

Just read your question, out of curiosity is this aimed at us retriever people? The reason I ask is AFTCH and FTCH are retriever titles and was wondering if you put this in the wrong section. If so I will move it to the proper spot.

Yes, I made a mistake. Could you please move it? Thanks

Case,
Just admit it.
You are Retriever curious.
Take the leap.
You won't regret it.

Labber,
Getting Case to take the leap is like fishing for pickerel. Don't try to set the hook too soon or you'll scare him off...
It seems to me that you are more than qualified to answer Case's question...or perhaps you could teach Blue to type and he'll answer the question.

:offtopic2: Still waiting for the answer to my question. LOL

If I was 20 I would definately have a retriever but.... I'd want a black lab with one of those big blocky heads. Beautiful. Had a Chessie as a kid. Knocked me off the pier at Port Stanley and I almost drowned. He liked to hip -check people. Here's my Dad in 1939 with his Chessie.

FTCH needs an accumlation of at least 10 points in the open stake including a win

AFTCH needs an accumlation of at least 10 points at an all age level either open or amateur stake including a win with the handler being an amateur.

Hope this Helps

The winner of first place shall be credited with 5 points, second place 3 points, third place 2 points and fourth place 1 point. To acquire the a championship, a dog must win first place (5 points) in either one Open, Limited or Special All Age stake open to all breeds of retriever. A maximum of 5 points acquired in trials not open to all breeds of retriever may be used.

The AFTCH reads the same but includes the word Amateur.

Looks simple enough but that blue ribbon is an illusive thing. Dogs can accummulate many, many points but without the win there is no title.
