Only pro in Manitoba that I know is Colin McNicol. Don't know that much about him - other than he conducts himself well at field trials. I have judged him a couple of times and talked to him at the national. A number of well respected amateurs in Manitoba seem to use him.
Check it out. I am sure you can get some references from field trialers in that area.

Colin is great. I put one of my dogs with him this summer to help me fix a problem...he did great and taught ME how to work through it which is exactly what I wanted. Seems I was the problem anyways...go figure.
I've know Colin for about 10 years and he is a stand up guy and has a great work ethic. I wouldn't hesitate to send another dog his way.
He goes to North (or South?) Carolina in the winter. I'd call soon, he may be booked up already or may be already gone.
Cheers,
Marcy

Oh sorry...just saw that you were looking for NEXT winter...
Colin does young dog work. I referred a puppy buyer from my last litter to him and he did all the basics on her. I took her back for 2 months this summer to run her in some trials-she got a 1st, a 2nd and a 4th in the 3 trials I ran her in (15 plus dog entries). Colin gets ALL the credit for that. She also got a Derby 4th in the first US trial she ran in. She had a solid foundation.
Top notch trainer-not heavy handed.

Thanks Marcy,Colin is from Elie is he not?Living a stones throw from Delta marsh, this would make it very convienient working with him.Sending a dog away for 6 or 7 months would be very stressfull for myself,so getting to know the trainer would help put my mind at ease.I am currently the back up guy for a possible back out on a Quasi pup,I will know by this comming weekend,so my fingers are crossed. In the meantime I am sending a deposit on a Ram pup just in case.Whichever pup I bring home,I feel it is important to get as much of the water work done a an early age, hence sending him south next winter. If you have time check out the Ram litter and let me know what you think.I know you can never know what you are going to get,but is a pedigree sent from the trial gods or what?
Regards,Bryan.
