London Area Brittany Owners to help me train my dog

Anybody in the London area that would like to help me train my dog? I am looking for someone that has some fields to work in. Someone who has passion enough, to out of the goodness of their heart help me train my dog Machaceh for upland game hunting? Anyone? Saturdays are good... and when the days get a little longer the evenings would be good to. I am a real rookie with training for hunting... though I do alright regular dog training. Machaceh is a 10 month old brittany spaniel. Doesn't heel real well yet. I haven't trained him on WHOA... but he has a great nose and already does some retrieving. I have him searching out dummies in the house that I have hidden for him and he brings them back really well. He is even able to differentiate (somewhat) between pheasant, grouse and waterfowl scents.

The seminar will give you all the tools you need to start training your own dog. Getting out and training with other folks can also help a lot, the idea of the seminar is to train you to train your dog.

Well if you can't afford it, and I of all people understand that, then get a good book and start training. I think you will find your dog has a lot of natural ability. The trick is to temper the natural ability so that it works to the advantage of both of you. Your dog will learn that with your help on the gun he can get a bird in his mouth. I use a book by Larry Mueller called Speed Train your own Bird Dog. Mueller has been the Hunting Dogs editor of Outdoor Life and has developed innovative training methods from a life time of experience. The nice thing about Mueller is that he does it all without electronics and such, which also fits a tight budget. It is not a new book and yes the smith seminars that Maverick is always advertising would be awsome with new and proven methods but Mueller is a good affordable alternative.

I like the book that their father, Delmar Smith did. "Training Your Gun Dog"
It is not a new book either.

There are some great DVD'd out there as well. As much as I like the Smith seminars the best DVD I have seen that actually walks you through all the steps as you progress is the George Hickox. it is available through his web site as well as other various sites suchs as GunDogSupply and LionCountrySupply.

I also like the book that Jixer suggested but believe the DVD will make things a bit easier as he actually demonstrates what he is telling you about in the DVD.

I have the Hickox tapes and have the Smith DVD.
The Hickox tapes got me through a fair bit with Dixie.
The Smith methods althoughmy favorite and prefered method is not well explained on the DVD. The Hickox DVD will get anyone well on their way with a pointing dog from start to finnish and it is all shown and explained in a step by step way.
I highly recomend the Hickox DVD, they sell all 4 of the tapes now on one DVD.
