You should have two, one for early season to blend in well when they are wet
and the snow camo one for when the snow flies.

Back in the day my setter would have ran circle around those dogs of yours DBD. I remeber her 3rd year of pheasants it was minus 20 damb near all year and noone would hunt with me because "it was too cold for thier dogs" Yet she still went out and got me my limits of upland birds, ducks, and rabbits without hint of being cold.
Why did I go to a GSP? I needed somthing with a bit more run to it the Setter would cover ground effectivly but wouldnt open up as big as I wanted her to when we hit the prairie. She would get out to 150 or 200 yards but I wanted her out to 300+.

You GSP guys are all the same, I can smell the fear from here.:worms: If you look closely at the second pic, taken a week ago Wednesday, you will see what was the last woodcock in the province. It took a Bourbonnais to find it.:hand:
Actually Ryan, mine ran circles around the setter he was with.

I have a half DK as well. His GGrandfather is DC Bodo Vom Waldrand and GGGrandfather is DC Ybold Klaus Von Brown. I love the solid black DK's and that is a stunning dog.

If I import a dog from Germany it is a DK. If I register it with the CKC/AKC does it cease to be a DK and forever thereafter become a GSP? What if I enter it in CKC/AKC field trials - the antithesis of the the Import dog - and it is very successful. Must it relinquish it's DK status? Perhaps I enter in a North American Dog Show and the dogs wins it's Championship. It is now a Dual Champion in the CKC/AKC system. Does it now lose DK status? How is it different than the North American born dog who achieves DC status?

Can a dog be 1/2 DK and still be registered as a purebred dog?

First , you can obtain a DK in North America, there are kennels that have qualified their program to breed as DK's. Do a google seach of Deutsch Kurzhaar.
If you were to import a registered DK you can still play the puppy games ( my terminolgy for testing programs) with CKC, AKC, and NAVHDA. You need to supply those organizations with your pedigree and they, for a fee will register your dog in their program. I am not up to date yet with the AKC and NAVHDA regonizing each other's registry, as this just happened in the recent months.
For a dog to qualify as a DK it must be from an approved breeding within the program. For the dog to be eligible to breed the dog must past at least the test "Solms" or better. The breeding must be approved by the organization.
In North American there are currently two DK groups, and both have a slight different agenda. If you are interested in a DK you may contact me. I am not planning a breeding but can offer suggestions.

It can still be registerd dog but NOT as a DK.... AKC, CKC and NAVHDA will regonize the pedigree but the DK program will not.

Did not do ANY small game this year ,too busy working inthe bush . Moose hunt was great .. 4 guys 6 days saw , 5 bulls , 4 cows , 2 calves , a couple of deer and we never left my 400 acre . Both calves where shot at and we taged one ( newbe missed at 40 ft , HOW do you miss a standing animal at 40 ft ) . Deer hunt .. 1st week was a bust ( no deer where I normally hunt . 2nd week hooked up with one of the boys from the moose camp lives/ hunts 30 min north of me , we hung 3 and lost 1 ( dogs pushed it into the lake and we could not find where it came out if it did . Sad news , Archie passed away in my arms as soon as I got home from the moose hunt. This is a fast version as I tried 2 times to post but got timed out I think .
