I've always wanted a metal lathe of my own. I was a machinist in my younger days.

John, Not sure what you mean by float reel

Spear, I can manufature all kinds of things with it and some inginuity. It's mainly for turning bolts, bushings etc.

I was a machinist in a previous life form. It's amazing how everything comes back...

That looks alot like an Adcock Stanton float reel.. not saying I don't believe he made.. just looks alot like mine. Can't beat a good float reel for Steelies...

hey ches a float real is basically a real that is free spooling similar in shape to a fly reel only with no restriction, it has to be machined perfectly so as to alow the current to pull your float. you can drop your float in the water and let the current pull your bait as far as you want presenting your bait naturally. if you see it up close you'll notice the difference. i haven't used anything else since he made it for me 15years ago. definitly way better then spinning reals. mine has no drag or clicker totally free spooling!
