I am curious how you woodcock hunters did in Ontario this year compared to last year? I found the season to be longer because of the warm weather but never really got into a large number of birds in one hunting spot this year but rather a few here and there type thing. I had to really work harder this year vs. last year for woodcock. My favorite woodcock spot out east has always been a great spot for me but not this year. I found more birds closer to Toronto this year. In comparing this year's population to last year's population I would say it's about the same overall. Now the grouse on the other hand was much better this year vs. last year in Southern Ontario for me. I just wish my shooting was a little better:emmbarassed:

Did about as well as previous years overall. Seemed to be a drawn out season with no real peak in numbers. It seemed the birds I was getting into November were almost all hens which migrate first and never really saw the males. I suspect it the season could have gone into the end of November except for the cold snap and snow storm in the second week of Nov. that would have caused the lingerers to book it south.
