lord knows I may get alot of opinions but the question needs to be asked. If you had to choose 1 book and/ or dvd for training pointing dogs, (german longhair) what would it be? I am an abject rookie, and have found with alot of research that everyone has there own opinion & it can actually become more confusing with the plethora of material. I want one training regime that I can use as a bible of sorts. I am certainly open to other methods, but not until she has the fundamentals. I have heard it said that the dog will forget more about birds than you can ever hope to learn. I sure hope so.

Hafwit good to see you made the transition from AO. My 1 book would be the NAVHDA green book or Wing and Shot or Best Way to Train Your Bird Dog.

Movie would be Perfect Start and Perfect Finish. Hands down the BEST video for training pointing dogs ever.

PM me and I will let you know how to get ahold of a copy.

Way to narrow it down Ryan.

Absolutely one of the best is the booklet "Pointing Dog Training" by Nicky Bissell. However, it is long since out of print and there are no plans I know of for reprinting it.

So get Best Way to Train Your Bird Dog.

As far as videos goes, most books are far better than any of the videos I have. I don't have the one Ryan mentions though so it might be a good one.

Its a hard choice between the 3 I dont think I wouldnt own any of them they are all great.

The perfection Series was made by John and Cindy Han of Perfection kennels and they are as well as this video is argubaly the best pointing dog trainers in North America.
