PURPOSE
The purpose of a retriever field trial is to determine
the relative merits of retrievers in the field and to test
both the natural and trained abilities desired in a
hunting retriever. Tests should be held in a natural
hunting terrain and should be designed to test and
separate the competing dogs with the dogs giving the
best performances on that particular day being
awarded placement. All dogs running in the trial
should be given the opportunity to run as many of the
tests as time and circumstances allow and if
completing the tests in a satisfactory manner, shall be
awarded certificates of merit.

Poor sportsmanship is sort of like pornography I know it when I see it.

What about the judge that is verbally abusive to marshalls or birdboys?

Anna,
If you know something about pornography that I should know, feel free to pm me!:icon1_lol:

Someone on RTF has a signature line that reads something like:"Competition does not build character - It reveals it" I think that has alot of relevence when I read this section.
Reading this seems to put things into perspective when things are going lousy.

It is part of why I've never really enjoyed playing team sports. The ability to blame others for your own misgivings, and the whining and moaning that goes with it. While the same can still be said in FT's, in the end, it will always come down to me. My choices. My efforts.
Period.

Team work is very much a part of FTs -- TEAM of DOG and HANDLER -- and there are those that will always whine and complain -- but Scott is very right in the end it comes down to MY CHOICES, MY EFFORTS

:"Competition does not build character - It reveals it"
This is very True ! This is the reason we didn't get into the FT's when we first started running dogs . we saw to much of this.

Nothing tells you more about a person as how they accept failure. :second: :third:
