stuck on point

The other day Trigger was out in my yard and I could not find him. I called and he did not come. I walked out and found him pointing on a couple of doves sitting there on the lawn. I called again and he still did not come, he did not move a muscle. I had to go over and personally release him from his point. I did not really spend much time training to hold point like that, it is just in his blood. I think we was disappointed that I did not shot the birds for him. My issue is to keep him there after the bird flushes. So I am working of releasing after the shot and only on a silent comand.

nikka my britt is on point right now. i let her out and their was a dove on the fence so she stopped to point. i figure i might as well check my messages. wild birds even in your own back yard are the best teachers.

The is not a bad thing Spear,

When we put the feeder up in the back the doves would feed underneath it.
Dixie would go out and be on point until I went out and flushed the birds and released her. And even then she would spend the next 5 minutes looking for them before she would go.
I hate to see them sit on point butis really nice to hear Trigger is holding point for so long!! That is great.
I use a double tap on the top of the head to release them from point and get them to move on.
Sound like he is doing real well.
