View Full Version : HRC Grand - Too BIG
Anyone else think the HRC Grand is getting to big? With the # of dogs entered this year the 400 dog mark is creeping up pretty quickly. With the popularity of HT's the 500 dog field may not be to far fetched either. Should the HRC limit the size and if so how should they do it? Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

My concern with the grand being as large as it is, is the pressure it puts on the land and water in an area. As a land owner I really appreciate all the help I get to maintain the fields and ponds from our club and FT friends. Even holding one small trial a year means wear and tear on the property. I know that some of these places in the states are huge but still when I hear about 100 trucks lined up along a road I don't think my neighbours would be too happy and they are great about letting me use their fields.
I know that Hullet is a big enough marsh to hold the tests but I not sure that our area marsh could do it.I'm sure that the Grand will continue to grow and there will be more growing pains but the HRC will work it out.

I know that this is one of the big questions most clubs have and struggle with. I have been to a couple tests in region 2 and they would really like to hold a grand and have a great spot as far as grounds go but the legistics of moving and parking that many trucks has put them off.
