That would be a wise choice if you intend on having labs:spoton:
Mine pretty much shed all year long but shed ALOT during the summer. During the summer I will brush them out once a day to try and control it but my wife say's she still sweep's the floor 2x a day.

I have a shedding blade and a slicker to brush out our lab. She too sheds all year and very heavy in the summer. I also invest in a lot of vacuum bags and am seriously considering one of those vacuums that go on there own.

I think one of those Robo vacs would last about 5 minutes around here. Aready burned out the motor of one central vac, was it plugged with dog hair (I have 6 in the house). MY guys do a lot of shedding but are worst in the spring. I use a shedding blade but a hacksaw blade or an old steak knife work just as well. I'm finding that with my old fellow he takes a lot longer to blow his coat. Reggie has blown hers since she had the litter. Right now she is like a wire brush.

I have a kong rubber brush and it works GREAT! just make circles with it, and it pulls all the hair.

I use this along with the kong zoom groom and find they do a great job.

If all else fails post this on your door:
Attention guests:
I like my dogs a lot better than most people, they live here, you don't ! If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture (that's why they call it "fur" niture.
