Yeppir, Henry and gang put on a good show. We had a great time although the rain put a bit of a damper on Saturday night festivities. Nice to see some of the old gang and made some new friends to boot. Great grounds and the host club should be congratulated on a job well done.

Jim, did you run a dog at Senior or Master? I running in both stakes both days. In senior was dog 2 Saturday, dog 1 one Sunday. The Yell'r lab. Got through Saturday, but picked up on water blind Sunday. Was out REAL quick both days in Master. Didn't get around socializing as much as usual, but still had a good time.

Nope, Kaliska titled on Saturday and Tom got soaked! Henry titled Skeeter in Master on Saturday and got soaked about 5 different times!!!

We were there and also had a great time. Henry has some terrific properties and water all around his place. My retired 9 year old girl, Tidy, passed her 3rd Junior test on Sat to title, so I got soaked too! Taylor gave a great effort in Master both days, but didn't make it through (my fault on Sat - the judge said she did some of the best work of the flight on the land series, but I forgot to wait for him to release her on the marks...). Been running too much HRC this year. I think Taylor is looking for a new handler... Boots passed his first 2 attempts at Senior. Back to the drawing board for Bounty, who I picked up Sat on the land blind and who forgot what to do with birds she found while quartering today - "Mom, here's a dead duck, what should I do with it?" They keep you humble....

Kevin, How kind of you to ask,,,:cheesy: ,,, For all of you that know the story about Kaliska getting a fail last year in CKC JR because she broke, and I was told a dog was not allowed a break in JR because you where allowed to use a lead. I have taken a pile of sarcasm plus made a few enemies because I took the judges to CKC Hearing in Toronto. I lost.
Funny part of this story is I finally broke down and decided to finish Kaliskas JR title at Henry's this week-end after saying I would never run another CKC event again.
Saturday morning at the JR land test our judges lined us up to give the rules of the test, while explaining we where told if we run our dogs off lead and they break it would be our fault. While needless to say my hand went up higher then a horse on Viagra. I explained to the two judges in front of everyone there that we where allowed a controlled break, to read the rule book, its in there twice. With out looking at the rule book, they decided to take my word for it. They then pointed out the distance that would be allowed if a dog should break, boy it was real short. that day I ran my dog off lead and also seen Kevin Fortier run his beautiful Chesapeake off lead also. He also titled his dog. I'm not trying to start trouble here, nor am I cutting down any judges, what I am trying to do is make the rule book understood, and stop hearing the words:: Quote: WHY WOULD YOU BE ALLOWED A CONTROLLED BREAK WHEN YOU CAN USE A LEAD!

From the CKC rule book: 9.1.5 Dogs need not be steady and may be brought to the line on leash. Dogs should be brought to line tractably at heal and must be under control. Dogs may be restrained gently with a slip cord, or held gently by a collar until sent to retrieve. If a collar is used to restrain, the collar must be removed before the dog is sent to retrieve. Prong and pinch-type collars are prohibited. Leashes, including short tabs, shall be removed before dogs are run.
9.2.4 Dogs shall be steady on the line but a controlled break or creeping should result in a relatively lower scoring in trainability than a controlled break or creeping would in Junior Hunt Tests.

I had a great time at Henry's, the judges ran a great fair test for all and made everyone feel comfortable at the line. See you all at the OVHRC, Jim, look for the truck done in Max4 Camoclad, hope we meet!

:nice work: Henry and all who helped him put on a great week-end! Tom & Cathy

Tom,
congratulations on finishing your dogs JR.

Although you may not have appreciated it at the time, your non controlled breaking saga has probably helped to clarify the rules for some at least.
You are a true ambassador.

Tom isn't an ambassador... he's an embarassor ;)

Good to see you getting off the horse and running a lowly CKC event ;). Glad that mars bar made you proud... Can you imagine what you could accomplish with a black dawg! my god!

Most of all I'm looking forward to my complimentary cola at the OVHRC, and directions to this property ;)

Frank,
I really have to learn all this retrieving terminology. Is there a good book you could recommend.

The mind boggles.

You cant have the cola until after you cook us up those big ass sausages again, but you will be the first one I send directions to the new land, I will know today if the bank OK's it, then it goes to the lawyer.

Warren, Franks cool, plus at most of the test, he's the only shade you will find on hot days! He's a big oll boy. :first:

Glad to hear that you got your title. Here comes the but .... I hope this is the very last time we have to read about your controlled break. A year has gone by and it is definately time to move on cause I think everyone is tired of hearing about it. Life is too short to get hung up on the little stuff. Good luck.

Here we go!!!! you should have stopped at the BUT". G. Manson, if you had read my first reply to this post you would have found that all I wrote was I had a good time at Henry's, I never even mentioned my dog getting her title. But then like always a few jokes by others asked me about the break. I replied as honest as I could, if you dont want to read my REPLY"S then Im sorry. Please stop talking for EVERYONE. To top it off the problem still exist with the CKC judges not knowing you are allowed a controlled break in JR, so until they do, I guess this joke might linger. I dont want anyone esles to run into the same crap I did, because a rule book is not clear enough for some. Why dont you write CKC and ask them to fix the rules or educate thier judges. My dog has here title in HRC started, I didnt need a title in CKC JR, nor do I plan on getting any more in CKC until I finish HRC with all five dogs I have. This is over for me, and I have moved on, here come your BUT"" if a question comes up on this or any other board, you can be sure I will answer it! By the way, everyone was just joking around here, lighten up....welcomeani

Ok guys,

I want this nipped in the bud before it goes any further. I have no issues with people debating a topic or a theory but I will not tolerate personal attacks and this is treading very very close to the line. The next person who feels the need to post about this topic that has been debated WAY TO MUCH will find themselves with a 3 day suspension from this forum.

Remember, CHD's is here as a resource for everyone to enjoy and learn from. Like I said above if you want to debate a topic or something else I have no problem with that but do not debate the person/people involved.

Let's keep it clean so everyone can enjoy.

The point Drew is making is I think everyone has moved on from this now. With the trip back to CKC there is just a little good natured ribbing which Tom has not had a issue with and has taken it for what it is, all in fun.

Don't want to have things get heated up again.

Thanks for taking the good natured ribbing for what is is Tom, jokes.

Yes the point I was trying to make is we have all moved on from this and let's let sleeping dogs lie. I may have come across too harsh but I just wanted to make sure we do not re-visit the past.

A little fun is OK but it can always turn into something nasty very easily.

Liz, Did you get any pics of Henry getting wet, he had 5 young lads chasing him with water, for a man nearing 70, that old boy sure is fast. I think Kevin Fortier wife got it on video, Ill ask him for a copy, it was to darn funny!! :cheesy:
