Things are quiet on the dog front so lets talk sports. But before I do make sure you pick up a copy of the latest Online. Talk about information overload - it could be Dennis's best one ever.

Now lets talk sports. Who is worse - Bred Farve, who decides to retire and then says he didn't really mean it and wants to go back to football, but doesn't care if its the Packers.
or
Matt Sundin, who passed up a chance to help the Leafs last year and accept a trade, but decided he wanted to remain a Leaf, but may go to other teams or may retire or he might just make it back to the Leafs.
or
Gilbert Arenas who just signed a $111million dollar contract to play football.
How can he go to work (play) after that.

Just some things we can talk about, but if you want to talk about the comment at the top of the list ie. dogs - start a new thread. Here lets talk about sports.

I love sports... I am a die hard leaf fan. Personally what I want to see more of is players that show they want to play for a team by taking a pay cut to stay. If I was Mats and I claimed to love that franchise as much he does, I would simply take a cut... maybe 3 million a year contract with the club to say, I will stick around and play the game I love for the team I love. As a fan that communicates alot to me

Well, leaf fans must be happy - they have a chance at a free exhibition game ticket. Give me a break. As bad as they have been for the past years, they should be giving away free season tickets.
But don't give up hope Toronto - the Blue Jays are in the 7th year of their 5 year plan and are not close to making the playoffs.
Well there are the Argos - they had a quarter back who was 11-1 and made the playoffs so they traded for another quarterback and now their 1-2. I guess the thought of playoffs 2 years in a row was too much for them.
There must be something in the water! To make matters worst, I am a Toronto Raptors Fan. Perhaps they can move them to Hamilton!

CJ,

Don't worry, pretty soon you're going to have the Toronto Bills... now that's a franchise!!

By the way, I have no issue with either of your examples...

Favre is not only one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the game, but just came off one of his best seasons. I can't blame him for wanting to come back. Go talk to anybody in the state of Wisconsin. They all want him back on the team.

I believe Sundin genuinely felt he would help the Leafs by not being traded last season. He was wrong. Oh well, you won't have to worry about him next year except when the leafs are playing against the Habs.

Arenas contract to play Basketball for the Washington Wizards at $ 111 million is $ 16 million LOWER than the team offered him. He actually asked for less money than the team was willing to pay so the team could recruit additional talent.

You'll never see an NFL team in Toronto or Canada for that matter, no market. The Blue Jays keep putting out mediocre teams, they'll be gone soon if they don't get their crap together, Halliday will be gone soon, he is too good a talent to waste on a franchise that is happy and content with .500 ball. Blue Jays will move him and Burnett soon, possibly Rios or Wells.

As for the Leafs, I'm no fan, but Matts has to go, been saying that for years. They need to go younger, why they don't bring up more Marlies I don't know, but when they do, they excell. As for Cujo coming back, now they need a backup for the backup. Cujo is a good goalie when he has a good defence infront of him. But then again, they only brought him back because the Jays brought back Cito. We're going to see Olrud, Fernandez, Bell back with the Jays and the Leafs are going to bring back Burns, Clark and Gilmour.

Summer Olympics, come on. There is talk of taking out Baseball, Softball, Basketball, they now have BMX racing, mountain biking, skateboarding etc. etc. etc. What ever happen to track and field, gymnastics, rowing and so on. Why don't they add hand grenade throwing and oil well drilling. I am not a big fan of the olympics anyway, just a political mess.

Anywho, gotta go.

I guess I will jump in with my 2 cents. I'll get the easy stuff out of the way first.

Baseball.................hate it, can't stand watching it, don't follow anything.

Football........don't watch it, it's hunting season.

Hockey is another story. Diehard Leafs fan and have done eveything I can do to my 2 kids to completely brainwash them into being leafs fans and it's working. One of them actually has a bedroom painted Toronto Maple Leafs blue. I wouldn't have a problem seeing Mats come back to play again but they need to unload the other dead wood, let him help build the youth up. If he decides to play somewhere else I would be a little ticked of because he could have waived the no trade last season and they could have picked up some good draft picks for him. My guess is that he will either retire or he will play out the remainder of his career in sweden.
Cujo was a really good pick up I think and is good value for the team. He will likely play in the area 15 games next season allowing toscula(sp?) to play the majority of the games. This will also allow them to keep there other big prospect goalie playing every night with the Marlies. He will obviously be called up if there are any injuries to deal with throughout the season. To have a backup goalie of the caliber of Cujo (yes he still has some game in him) for $700K/year is really good value and a good move on theor part.

GO LEAFS GO.....GO LEAFS GO!

Kevin please don't take this the wrong way, but you should change your slogan to " my retriever is smarter than a leaf fan! Sorry, I couldn't pass that up.
As far a Cujo, I agree it is a good pick up for the price. But, will the Marlies play Poggie? Didn't use him that much in the playoffs.
I like what my Raptors did - hired an experienced Canadian European coach and will be working the 3 young players with him over the summer. It is called skill and game developement.
Too bad the leafs don't have an original thought.
My favorite summer olympic sport is the ribbon gymnastics where the girls make silly circles with ribbons - I sure hope they use Secret because they sure work up a sweat!:cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

I am a Penguins fan so I will try to be nice seeing as how we got humiliated in the finals this year.

Everyone is forgetting one major point, we are talking about TORONTO.. If Toronto announced that this years starting lineup was going to inlcude 5 members off this forum they would still sell out. Heck they could strap skates on the raptors players and the stands would still be packed. The only part of Toronto that is Hockey oriented are the fans, they are the most die hard fans in the NHL. The rest of the organization is a business venture and a large money maker. Poor fans, they are the most loyal fans in the game and they deserve a cup, too bad the owners are thinking green, green, green.

Now Peter, I am not a BBall fan, however, I work as a Proj. Manager for the Private Sector in Road Construction so I attend a good number of sporting events. I was taken to a BBall game (Raptors) last year, wow this is a good sport to watch live. I have never been to a sporting event where the Hip Hop music is blaring through the whole game (pretty cool). If the leafs tried this they might be able to distract the other team enough to get that red light behind the oposing goalie running. The leafs have been on the same red light bulb on the visitors side since the ACC opened!

Sorry Buds fans

Anyone follow Lacrosse? I always wanted to play growing up, but it wasnt possible. My son just finished his second season and loves it. I keep saying I'm gonna take him to a Rock game, but we haven't made it yet. The nice thing about kids lacrosse is it doesn't get watered down. They play the whole rink, they stick check and one team wins. Not like some of the other sports he plays.
As for the other sports, I'm not into baseball or football. Dyed in the wool leaf fan. I hope Sundin doesn't come back. But I won't go to the games, I can walk to the GM Centre from home to watch the Generals play. That's some good hockey!
