Some people have really crappy days:sad1: at work (like today) or in general and you walk in the door when you get home. And there is your four legged buddy laying in a kennel that she has been in all day and when you let her out all there is, is a wagging tail a slimy tongue and a whole lot of looking for attention. Not to mention that when she finaly settles down and you plop on the couch she is at your feet laying down, no complaints about anything.
She made my day... Thanks Abbie!!!:nice work:

That is perhaps what I look forward to the most when I get home everyday.... Always happy to see me, and a great big wet kiss. I was without a dog for about 15 years.. and then I got a brittany (i grew up springers) and I don't know how I lived without a dog for so long.

Our dogs always pull through for me in so many ways.
Helping you relax at the end of a long crappy day or any day for that matter.
Long walks in the woods looking for grouse and other game birds.
Sitting down with you in the woods and sharing your lunch with you.
I take mine for company on long drives. Gives me a good excuse to stop several times and stretch my legs along the way.
I don't think I have anywhere near scratched the surface but yes, they are my best friends.

I'm a 911 operator and some days I end up taking things home with me. The kid and the dog make things all good when I walk in the door(the wife's not bad either).

I could not agree with ya more. No matter how mad/sad/frustrated I get my dogs are always able to put a smile on my face. They are always glad to see me come home and give endless amounts of unconditional love.

Amen to that! owning a working dawg has its frustrations, but in the end they just want to be lying on the couch with you... Lord knows Piper does

Dogs bring the best out in us (or try to) -- I got Maxx after 15 years without a dog -- I'm a social worker and easily could bring my work home with me (I used to do that more times than I care to admit to) -- having Maxx as a puppy gave me a reason to get up each day -- had to let him out and to feed him; even try to get a bit of training in; then get ready to either take him over to my folks (who looked after him during the days initially) or eventually puppy daycare -- at night when I got home after a hard day's work I'd have to take care of Maxx -- feed him -- take him out -- try to do some training -- didn't really have time to think about whatever troubles I'd had to deal with at work -- but more than that Maxx had that goofiness that pups have -- he would make me laugh -- and I'd get re-energized
Now Maxx is with Dan DeVos full-time (for now) because I've moved back to Toronto while my other better half and I get a place in Simcoe County fixed up to move to permanently (close to Tiny Marsh, Lee W, and Anna, etc. -- just in case anybody up there is looking for new training partners) -- any way I miss Maxx but I keep busy on forums such as this and keep myself "sane" by feeding off as well as sharing news, views, information, triumphs, and losses with so many others of like mind -- it's kinda like having Maxx right here with me at times -- so thanks to Drew and those others who put these forums here for us to share and feed our habit -- and here's to the dogs that brought us to this dance in the first place
P.S. I got to see Maxx for the first time in months last Friday (20th) -- we took him for a long walk and hung out for a couple hours -- he definitely remembered me and both of us were glad to see the other -- he met Myrosia and they hit it off (I think he liked getting his belly rubbed) -- plan is to get down to Baypoint Kennels as often as possible over the summer as I have as much or more to learn as Maxx does (so Maxx and I will be spending as much time as possible together) -- Maxx runs his first Junior stake of the season next weekend at Niagara Peninsula FT

I'm one of those lucky ones, I take Chevy with me to work. If I get frustrated I just take him out back for a few retrieves and get back @ it.

I have to agree with you all. I work shift work, and when I get home at 4:30am, Pyper is in the window. Both the dogs know when its us coming up the road, but Pyper beats Riley to the window, so he just waits by the door. The sound of the tails beating on the closet door and the wall are enough to wake the neighbours. I think they can hear me blink when I wake up, cause you can be sure there is gonna be a couple of wet noses at the edge of the bed to see if I move. Hubby always teases me and says they like him more.....I tell him he is just a tool that throws the toy for them....:). I think they like me more!!!
I am not sure what I would do if I didn't have either of my dogs. I know it wouldn't be long before there was another one (or two) to fill my heart! Unconditional love guys.....that's what its all about. I wish I was able to take my dogs to work with me. I travelled to Mississippi with Pyper on a plane, and she was the trooper, I had seperation anxiety. I don't like bieng away from them, and often find myself not going alot of places, cause I would rather have my dogs with me.
If this is a disease, then I hope they never find a cure.
Good luck with Maxx Mike

Thanks Debbie
Like you I hope they never find a cure for this "addiction" -- I went cold turkey (or is that "cold duck") for nearly 15 years until I felt the urge again -- and now I'm hooked all over again -- and Maxx is running again at SWORTC FT this weekend -- I do look forward to the day that Maxx is home with me on a longer term basis than he is now -- and that I'll be able to take him to work with me
