Don't know if anyone else has heard this one yet. I heard that Bill Hillman is chasing derby points big time this year with a young dog. Story of the weekend goes that he ran a trial on Friday I think and after running his dog in the last series he didn't wait for any results and loaded up and drove almost 650 miles to make it to another trial that started Saturday. I know he got a second in the first trial but have not heard how he did in the second trial.
Makes you wonder at that rate just how much the dollar/derby point works out to.

In the US derby is bigtime. The last few years the top derby dog has had more breedings line up than the NFC or NAFC. Plus Bill sells most of the dogs after derby for around $1000 - 2000 a point . You do the math!!!! 650 miles is just another pay day for him if he gets 5 points. If you have top derby dog and decide to sell after derby lately you set your price and they line up to buy the dog. Bill is known for top derby dogs look at the lasy few years and look for Hawkeye 's ( Bill and Mary's Kennel Name). They have built lots and sold them all but Viking.

Well the '06 derby dog had 60 points so
60 points x $1000-$2000 = :omg: :omg: :omg: a huge pile of cash
