So did anyone here head out to Hullett for the opener? The first two hours sounded like a war zone. A lot of birds on the ground.
Can anyone with experience compare hunting Hullett with true wild pheasants. I figure hunting there I am getting as close to a wild hunt as I can with out going west. I know the pheasants at Hullett are domestic but they eventually get very good at eluding dogs a people.
I was there with Fozzie, it was fun. :first: Yes there was a lot of shooting going on, I wonder how many got some birds? Everyone I ran into said they had put up at least one bird.
Fozzie flushed a rooster and it looked like a really nice bird but unfortunately the other half of the team did not come through :embarrassed: so we ended up coming home empty handed.

I was there today and was surprised at how few people were there. Kaiser flushed a hen while I was looking at my GPS and I didnt shoot. He pointed 4 other times but none of the points produced birds. It was HOT and we both burned out fast.
I met "Jixer" in one of the lots which was pretty cool!

It was cool to meet you too Dilly.
The dogs pointed 3 birds yesterday. One ran through the 6 foot grassland and was gone. A rooster flushed in the woods without a clear shot and the other rooster is going in the pot. Not a bad day at all.
It was definately a hard hunt with all the crops still on, and high temps.
