Great shoot yesterday.

20 ducks and 4 geese

Abbie picked up 17 of the 20 and 2 of the 4 and handled well. She would handle a lot better if I would work with her more. She was really getting the idea as we started putting her on more birds. We have to keep her tied up as she breaks a lot and flairs the birds, quiet though. The others landed near us except one goose which we thought landed in a tree on the far side of the pond, and when we went to pick it up it was laying next to it. I had a battle with Abbie handling her to another bird as I thought the goose was up the tree, guess we need to trust the dogs too. She was about 20 feet from where we found the goose when I was handling her.

The first goose that was hit swam all over the pond around grass mats, boulders and stick piles and we couldn't get a finishing shot off as Abbie was right behind it. The goose finally cut behind the beaver house and my cousin was able to finish the goose as Abbie was protected by the house. She was tired after that chase, about 10 minutes chasing that bird.

Here's a pic at the camp right before cleaning them up.

Cold and soaked to the bone....
