Sending on a mark

When sending on a marked retrieve, how long do you wait after the fall? Sometimes I think I wait too long trying to keep her steady.

Depends on the level your dog is at. If you are just starting to steady, you may want to let your dog go as soon as the bumper hits the ground. As the dog understands and starts to sit quietly until the bumper lands, then start to lengthen out the time you wait before letting her go. If you throw 3 marks for her hold her the longest on the last mark, as she will be more willing to wait. If you wait too long, she will pull off(look away from) the bumper and forget where the mark was. If this is happening a lot, go to cut grass where she can see the bumper from the line and then make her wait. If a pup(under 4 months) let go at the top of the arc. Success, success, success:clap2:
