Wednesday night got the news that since it was calling for rain on Friday, my partner didn't want to go. Thursday night went out, and setup the pop-tent, and lawn chair ready for the following morning.
Friday morning, 5:00am I was in the ground blind with the love trio setup. Not a single gobble to be heard. At 7:00 had a hen walk by, and that was it, by 9:00am my ass was asleep and I was fed up, so went in for breakfast, and helped the farmer with his chores. At 2:00 while we're working on a forage wagon, I see 4 hens in the back field where my pop-up, so I had a hard time focusing on work...
Off I go, and by the time I get back there, the hens have moved off, perfect. Get in the tent by 2:45, and at 3:40 I have 3 jakes come walking out clucking. Took the lead jake as he was closest.
This is how far he was, the 3" Winchester #6's did the job and planted him where he stood.

The farmers dog "Ripple" wouldn't stop following me out to the tent, so he ended up being my partner for the sit, what an awesome dog, just curls up and doesn't move. He seemed to approve of the whole situation.

Here's the whole setup, a Ameristep Dog House in some fucked up camo pattern, a dead bird, and a Remington 870, with an Undertaker, and Bushnell Banner 1x4 CircleX Scope.

Saturday morning, head out with the original hunting partner who didn't want to hunt in the rain, so that we could sit in the rain all morning?!
Anyways, friday night he had seen the tom in the tree so we got out at 4:15 so that it was pitch black while we got setup. At 5:10 or so the tom started gobbling, and gobbled 10 times, but once daybreak came not another sound. Sat till 8:00 in the drizzle, wind, and rain, went home to bed!
Sunday, the plan was to get out bright and early with the land owner, but his hired hand screwed that up by not coming in. So I helped him with his chores, in for breakfast, and in the tent for 9:30am. Sat till 2:30, no birds, no gobbles, no patience.
So the weekend started off okay, but it would have been nice to hear some birds. Next weekend I guess!
