The fat lady singing today
I went out for pheasants today at Hullet and actually had three flushes. I managed to bag this rooster with a left barrel and the other big cackler never presented a shot. The snow was knee high and it was hard sloggin but my dog worked hard the entire time. Man it felt like the end of the upland season though...

To watch our dawgs work the terrain with such passion is indescribable. I bet at least one member of your hunting party slept well that night. Nice pic!

Cheers,

Over??? Say it ain't so! You've inspired me bud - I'm taking the day off tomorrow to tromp around in knee deep snow and see what we can find - the off-season is long enough without regretting passing up hunting days!

Sucks to be you guys, no snow here...YET. We will get it soon enough though. At least you can hunt in it. Lots of rain at times with strong winds, glad it wasn't colder or it would be snow and we would be pretty deep in it.

From the balmy East.:icon1_lol:

I'll be clubbing seals then and waveing at Paul McCartney and Pamela Anderson.:1: Ya but when the ice goes out there is lobster, crab, scallops, salmon, brook trout, sea trout, mackerel, cod, halibut, you get the picture.:first:

Seriously though I could head to salt water to train if I wanted to at that time of year. Might keep at the coyotes then to help out the caribou population, numbers are way down in some areas.

You should see all the water spots to train here, the problem is in trying to duck hunt there is so much water to try and find birds. The plus is you are always fairly close to a water spot for your dog to get a drink if thirsty.

There is a DD guy here that PPinQC told me about, I might have to hook up with him sometime even though it is a bit of a drive.

Thought about it but no roads that cross to catch dogs or shoot yotes and even if there was, MAY too much snow. No plowing with 12 ft of snow and no people to make it worth while in the area I am talking. Call them after snowmobling in to hunt an area, $25 bounty might make it wotrhwhile.

Sorry about hijacking the thread, my bad.:emmbarassed:
