Does anyone have this book and what do you think of it ?

There are two editions. I reviewed lboth --latest last year in ONLINE-see your issues for details.

Lots of drills-usually well described and easy to follow. She names some differently and she does some differently and she has some different purposes than what you will see in Lardy and ONLINE so I think novices will be confused when comparing different sources. For example: Trainer so and so might say, Do drill "X' to solve that problem. If they use Cassity or Lardy or ONLINE the drill done could be very different. Pus there are some of her drills I don't recommend but that's just me! You might like!!

We try hard to name things consistently and according to the originator, but it's really hard to get everybody on the same page. You'll see another set of names in some of Smartworks, for example.
Lee, you'll probably not fall into these pitfalls but others beware?

What books do the 2 of you recommend to the novice? I have Waterdog, but wasn't really thrilled with it at all.

Thanks!

Carol drill book is very good helps the novice like myself and others out their understand the drills I would get it also Retreivers on line Dennis gives great drawing and helps show the down falls of each drill , the last book's I would look at is Evan Graham Smart Work system I refer to it as "Dog Trainng For Dummies" , I was on his site the other day and he has a x-mass specail . Good luck with your dog and have Fun 2Labs

I have attended two of Carol's seminars, and would highly recommend them. She's a wonderful speaker and explains things so clearly, particularly to beginners. I also like her drill book very much. It's nice to have all the drills in one book. I keep it on my desk at work, and if I have some down-time, I go out and set up drills in the parking lot. The dogs really enjoy them and I see progress in the skills I am working on. Just curious Dennis, which ones do you "not" recommend??

i have one of carol's books

i met her at the kingston annual HT some years back.wonderful lady, very nice and obviously very dog savy

i just moved to a new home so i don't have a clue where it is right now.it'll turn up

it is a book of drills mainly with a bunch of clever quips splashed through out it

as i recall there seemed to be no ryme or reason as to the way it was layed out.yes a lot of good drills but i'd seen alot of them in other sources.some with a different twist to them and different name and different intended purpose.

i found it a good read but didn't really pick up anything new out of it

here's the book

For what its worth, I think the book on quacks lap is fantastic. The layout and clarity of detail is especially useful to a novice novice like myself.

Is that like, some of the drills in this drill book aren't the drills that I drill on when I do drills? D not DD.
