My GWP is only 10 weeks old but he will eventually need an electronic collar. I would like your opinions on which way to go. I am considering a Tri-Tronics Sport 65 beeper/trainer G2...and am considering getting a re-furb from the collar clinic.
Anyone out there ever deal with the collar clinic? Anyone know why or to what extent the collars are refurbished?
Is the collar I am considering a good choice? Is the beeper/trainer a good idea or is it better to go with two collars?

I am a noob...Steve

The Sport 65 would be a reasonable unit to purchase for your application. If you are an weekend user, anot requiring lots of extra levels.

Having the beeper located on the unit is an asset as you can run the beeper and also locate the dog by turning the beeper on/off remotely. This is an asset if you are hard of hearing or hunting in heavy cover.

The Collar Clinic is I believe operated by a relative of one of the owners of Tritronics. If they have a collar that you want in stock, can offer a reasonable warranty on the unit, at a price that is reasonable compred to a new unit why not give it a try.

My concern is that you make sure that you understand the philospy of training, have trianied dog using the long lead! The remote collar is now just the long lead without the rope.

I have been recommended the Sportdog models by Jixer. I have order the sportdog 800 today as 200 is about all I can afford at this point

I also love my SportDog collars. I have the SD 1850 two dog unit. It can be purchased with just one collar and you can add another at a later date if you desire.
It also has a beeper that can be remote activated, which is a function I wanted in my collar. I also like that the beeper can be taken off the collar for training only.
The price I thought was very reasonable. Call Ed at GoldCreek and he can give you a price.
