Do any clubs or "Pro's" offer handling/training seminars in SW Ont.

You see alot of these offered down in the States and I'm just curious if anything is on tap for up here come this spring.

That Voight/Lardy seminar in Georgia this February would be rather interesting to attend. Too bad it's a 20 hr. drive away.:boo:

Doug, the seminars in the states are rather expensive and I do not think that they would go over here. The one that Connie Swanson is doing in Michigan is very reasonable and would be worth the attend.
A few years ago Jamie put one on with Dennis Voigt at Pine Ridge and it was reasonably priced.
Perhaps, once ORA gets off the ground, they may be able to set one up. I would think that it would be very worthwhile.
Long Point Retriever Training Club is hosting monthly training sessions and non members are always welcome to attend.

Peter.

Evan Graham has done seminars in Canada for one and I am sure there are other pro out there that would come north as well. Not to mention the Canadian talent as well. It would take a lot of the clubs in the province to come together to organize such an event, but I feel it could be done. I for one would be in and I know a few others that would be as well.

Seminars
Interesting enough there were almost no Field Trialers at the seminar in Brighton a few years ago. It was an excellent inservice that was 2 days in length. To be honest, there are very few who would not have found it to be very valuable regardless of the game you play and the cost was minimal.
One of the exercises consisted of running a blind. I was the dog,Dennis the handler, and everyone knew where the blind was. Their responsibility was to use the appropriate CAST when the whistle was blown. When I looked back I could hardly stand up for laughing so hard-you don't want to know what the casts looked like-hopefully everyone understood the focus of literal casting once we finished but in the meantime the casts were just wild-I know if I was the dog-getting to the blind with some of the handlers would have been a huge challenge.
It was an excellent 2 days.
Jim
P.S. ORA is planning an initial seminar this year as we get this organization on it's feet.

I attended the Bill Little Seminar put on by Anna and Eden from Georgia Bay HRC. Small group atmosphere and everyone got to work their own dogs with Bill assisting.
It was Awesome....even though my dog bit Bill....:cheesy:
