What would be the top 3 DVD's to buy to teach a beginner like me how to teach a dog for field trials?

One Word.... Lardy

If you are looking for a complete training system then the Lardy Series is for you.

1. Total Retriever Training
2. Total Retriever Marking
3. E Collar Conditioning

I would also highly recomend Dave Rorems Handling DVD. It has a ton of info just on Handling.

I agree, can't go wrong with Lardy. If you are new to training, you may want to check out Evan Graham's Smartworks DVDs. They are very good with a better explanation for the beginner.

Lardy for sure -- Evan's Smartworks too -- if pup strongly suggest Jackie Merten's Sound Beginnings -- and Farmer/Aycock DVD is good too

I know this thread is about DVD's but for anyone involved in retriever training a great resource is Retrievers Online. It is published by-monthly and is full of info. Dollar for dollar probably one of the best deals out there for training, trial and dog health issues. You can also order the back issues which give you a lot of reading material all at once.

For any of the newer people here is a link to the web site http://www.retrieversonline.com/

Oh ya and if you can afford it the Lardy material is great.
