Should be a great trial -- Chuck Dygos is judging (not every day you get a top pro judging !!!!) -- as well as other very good judges

That was part of the reason for Chuck judging -- most people apparently feel that he can't be beat on his home turf -- so he's judging instead so they can't complain any longer

Pro's shouldn't judge. It seems as if the am's feel that we have been blessed if the Pros do us any kind of favor in this game. I would just like to point out that the game is put on by am's in the most part and the pros are making a living off of it. Not to say that these people can't judge a fair trial but they do carry baggage and perception is everything.

My understanding being a client of Chuck's is that none of his clients are going to be entered in the minor stakes which is what he is judging. With this said there is no conflict of interest since Chuck and dogs he has trained will not be entered under him. The Club only has one major stake and Chuck will not be running in that. This brings up an interesting question with dogs he normally runs and has trained, is it the horse or the jockey that matters most. I suspect several of his clients will be running that weekend so it should be interesting. Fair regards

I believe Glynn cleared up very nicely any concerns there should be out there regarding Chuck judging -- personally (and yes my dog is "pro trained") I think that the pros that I've got to know in this game give back to the FT game in a number of ways -- and not just judging either -- I've seen times when a pro like Chuck or Dan Devos have gone out and thrown birds (as Chuck has in the past at FTs and I believe at North Bay's last National; Dan threw birds for the Bayfest Retriever demo last year -- Gloria DeVos was one of the judges; as well Dan and Gloria host the Tailgate at the Long Point FT; Al Haggerty helps out with the birds for Long Point) -- so pros do give back to the game -- and before somebody says "well they should because they're getting paid through the game" remember they're donating their time and not once did I ever hear any of the pros I've mentioned say they were doing anything just to drum up more business

We will be heading to NB we think it is one of the best trials of the year some of the nicest people in the Ft comunity are from there. we have been up for the last few years and yes Chuck does well but he dosn't always win. As for the coment from north of 7 maybe you should spend more time out trialing becauase after I ran my first open it wasn't any of the amatures who came over to say nice job it was Chuck and Danny who came over to see me and to take the time to point out where I could improve. " Nothing scares me me more than a good amature who has a lot of time to train their own dog" (Charles Dygos) The pro's give back more than you know. I get beat by them on a regular basis but I can say they are good people.

PS: I want to be the one who scares the crap out of Chuck !!!

North of 7, I believe, is right to make his point. Which isn't to say I agree or disagree, but it is a game first for the Amatuers . We are the gaurdians of it. North of 7 provides some good food for thought. Personally, I don't have an issue really, with Pro's judging once in a while, especially when it is with a good experienced amatuer that is not his client. That will be the case in NB. Remember there are 2 judges, and both of them have reputations to uphold. I don't know of too many people in the game, and certainly not pros, whos' integrity I would question. But I understand the concern that some might have, and I'm sure that North of 7's opinion is shared by others.
If anything, maybe it does some good to let the pro's wear the judges shoes for a weekend, so they don't forget the difficulties of the task.
My 2 cents.

To start with I have nothing but the utmost of repect for Chuck. This was not the point I was trying to make.In the states pros can"t judge for what ever reason. This is just my opinion and as far as Chris"s comment go a would believe I have been thrown out of more trials then you have run and I have also judged a national. And I do believe with the right dog I am one of the people Chuck could worry about even though percentage wise I but my money on Chuck

First of all, I'll say everybody is entitled to their opinion -- second, I don't see a major issue in Chuck judging in North Bay -- third, I don't think that North of 7 has anything against Chuck or any other pro per se -- he's just opposed to the concept of pros judging and the possible ramifications involved -- so while I may not totally agree with him I do see his point -- I respect his right to his opinion -- and finally, Chris, nothing personal, but I've known North of 7 for a long long time -- in fact I learned a lot about training dogs from him -- he's judged many FTs, even at the National level --so instead of knocking him, reread his words and try to understand where he's coming from -- he speaks from a lot of experience -- it may turn out that you two aren't all that far apart

I apolagise if I have sent out the wrong message and north of 7 come over and say Hi if we meet out in the field as I don't know who you are from this board to see you at an event (maybe I do?) Thats why I sign my name so people know who is putting his foot in his mouth from time to time.
