LET'M RUN

This event would be fun to run, but the event would conflict with the training of the Grand for this year. I will still come out support the event.. Sounds Like a great time. I hope we can get a date in the future that will allow Grand dogs to run this event. It would be cool to see litter mates from field to HRC run together.

Interesting concept and I will try to support it.
Will there be white in the field?..guns at the line?...are handlers in camo or white?..calling from the gun stations? etc all of the above....

Very good questions.... will there be quartering and flushing, will distances be limited in length...will there be rules and expectations given to the handlers? Would have prefered to see a combined effort ie. ORA Championship FT and ORA Championship Hunt Test and both run on the same weekend and with same judges and grounds with modified set ups. Mixing the two leaves me confused or should I say with mixed emotions.

Peter.

Since there are 3 series of land and water I suspect Lee will tell us that there will be 1 series to represent each of the dog interests invited to participate. i.e. one master Hunter water and land, one HRC finished water and land and one field trial (QAA) water and land.
Am I on the right track??

The intention of the hybrid format is to allow dogs from all venues to compete on even ground. The series will alternate from FT to HT with the starting series decided with a coin flip. The FT series will be white coats and FT rules and the HT will be CKC type set ups I believe. All this is dependent on the entries, if only FT people enter, the tests may be only FT and vice versa for HT. The idea is to expose everyone to the venues available to compete in and hopefully generate some crossover to both games and strengthen all retriever games.

Come on out and earn the bragging rights to Ontario Champion......

First off, I support this ORA initiative of merging the Field Trial and Hunt Test venue into one hybrid stake.

However, I think not requiring dogs to be CKC registered seems to go against "O.R.A.’s mission to promote the use of retrievers and other breeds eligible to compete in retriever trials" and against the mandate for member clubs.

How do others feel?

This is not a CKC licensed event, hence there is no need for CKC registration. We do not want to omit the HRC, UKC registered dogs from this competiton even though most of these dogs are CKC registered as well. There are more than just CKC events running in Ontario.

Just wanted to clarify the reasoning.....

I think you should throw the junk at em and let the dogs shine. it is a hybred event as you have stated let em throw what every they want and best dog wins. The ora should take a look at the SRS events and how they are put on. this is the basic format of thier events and you never know what you are going to see next series could be short or long might have white maynot. just my thoughts as you all know there will be dogs that acell in one area and not another so level the playing field.

There will not be a HRC series in this event .Mostly due to the fact that we must handle the gun and we cannot be responsible for making sure everyone has the proper paper work. We also want to try and not eliminate anyone from participating in this fun for bragging right's only event.

The main purpose for this event is get as many people as possible in one place to see firsthand what each other is doing.

As Howard already posted we will start with a coin toss to decide what type of test will start the event and go from there.

Please remember that this event is supported by the O.R.A excecutive but is being organized by a few .Anything we do to bring the retriever enthusiast together should be veiwed as a great thing. Please keep the comments to be positive.

I have run HRC and CKC hunt tests and am now trying Field Trials. They are all different but it all comes down to you and your dog picking up the birds.
Let's all get together and have FUN.
