Sorry for all the questions......but.....What is the difference between Open, Amateur, qualifying and junior? Just so I know what is going on tommorrow......

Open is for your top level dogs. You will see long tough technical marks, with multiple retired guns. These dogs are athletes in every sense of the word. The pros run open . Marks are usually a triple or quad.
Amateur was establised for amateur handlers only. The work will be of the same calibre but there will be no pros running dogs.
Qualifying is for dogs that may not be ready for open and amateur but lots run both. The marks are usually a little shorter and may or may not include a retired gun.
Junior (derby) consists of double marks or a double and a single. The dogs running junior must be under 2 years of age.

This is a real simplification but it will give you an idea of what is happening at each stake.

Chuck won the open with Big Guns Big Chill. Finished Trippi in qual but judge told me she was to far off line on blind so I handled her on the last mark. Qual test was a dandy. Long retired gun on land and white coats out in the field one set tight to the blind on water . A lot of dogs were getting lost on the last mark and ending up back at the blind. Tony was in real good shape hope he had a blue day. Day was long and hot so didn't stay to see the finish.
