Was out today, hit a spot that always has birds but only saw one. Dog gave me a nice point, bird moved on her she ajusted pointed again and this bird took off straight for my head I turn to shot and of course tree in the way. Could not find the bird after that. I looked in everywher and nothing. So then drove to another couple spots and nothing. Dog did point a couple of turkeys. She did very well for the first time out this season. Wish I could have got one for her but thats why its called hunting. Mabye next time.

I got out this morning for an hour and got two points over my GSP but couldn't get a shot off since they flushed the wrong way not giving me a chance through the thick stuff. We got soaked but it was worth every minute of it being out there. This was my first woodcock hunt of the season since I just got back this week from hunting out west. I hope to get out again tomorrow for a few hours rain or shine. Good luck to everyone.

Only found one woodcock today but managed a couple of grouse despite the cold wet weather.

Wiley had a great point on that ruffed grouse deep in the thick bush. Glad that I managed to bag it for him. :nice work:
Tomorrow it is back to the south.:boo:

Hi Jixer, I am curious how far north you are hunting? Not looking for your actual hunting spot just general area? I am planning on heading to the SOO this weekend to get into some flight birds. I have been hunting 60 mins north of Toronto with no real sucess as of yet since it is too early.

Hey Junior,
No problem, I was hunting about an hour NorthEast of Cochrane.
Good luck in the Soo.
