Just got an e-mail from Sandy Briggs the CKC board has voted in a couple of new fees. One will be a $3.00 entry fee for all non CKC members. Entry forms will need to include a space for the handler's CKC number. This is for ALL performance events. The new CEO wanted it to start on March 1st but they voted to put it off until June 1st as some clubs have already put out their premiums for comfirmation and rally/obedience. The other affects breeder, it is an increase of $4.00 per puppy when making individual registrations. Apparently it is for the 24/7 identification of lost dogs.

We were talking about this last night. At a time when the Hunt Test game is shrinking and clubs are wondering why they struggle to put on Tests and Trials for not much return this is just piling it on!

That issue was raised Apparently $2.00 is to go to the CKC and $1.00 to the host club not that this makes it any more palletable. The HRC/UKC has the same type of fees but take it a step farther by charging for non UKC registered dogs as well. I run a dog that is in someone elses name so I have to pay the extra handler's fee because the original owner is not an HRC member. I resent this but due to the owner's circumstances do not want to take the dog out of his name.
This fee will be a detraction to obedience trials, which are struggling as well.
