Horseshoe is adding a Master/Qual test this summer. Our goal is to encourage people to enter both stakes and perhaps experience a type of competition they would not normally try.
We are going to have great grounds, and anticipate an excellent slate of judges. There will be a special ribbon for each dog qualifying in the Master and finishing the Q. There will also be a trophy for the top Q. finishing dog that also passes the Master.
Here is the question which we are deliberating. There are pros and cons for both.
Would you be more or less likely to enter both stakes if they were held on Saturday only?

I like the concept alot. I feel it adds plenty to both games when competitors have a way of exposing their dogs and themselves to the games at the same venue at the same time. Long Point will be hosting a similar Hunt test/Qualifying weekend again this year the 3rd weekend in August. We had lots of positive comments from the people that attended last year. I can't comment on your survey because I don't have a Qualifying eligible dog. I feel that doubling a young Qualifying dog on the same day would be almost Disaster in the Making. But...JMHO.
Good luck with your trial and test

This is one time I have to agree with Gar....lol......to dbl stake a qual level dog is asking alot. I'm not saying it isnt possible but this is 2 seperate games....hmmmm leaves me with an uneasy feeling in my gut....JMHO

this is why we are asking...whether less travel and less gas and less time invested would trump separating the stakes by a day...a single day would mean more birds and a bunch of gunners at once.

I am with the boy's on this one.
I would not run my dog in Master and Qual on the same day.
Looking forward to your trial.

Two separate days gets my vote. Dog could probably make the adjustment but handler would have problems.:emmbarassed:

Medie,
Your club is to be congratulated for stepping up. Minor stakes are the backbone of the sport and to run something for both camps is even better.
Niagara used to run a spring full trial and minor stakes in the fall and I notice that alot of US clubs run seperate minor stakes with the Empire Club pretty much running what you and Long Point are suggesting.
Wish you all the best and a very successful trial. I thought the people that ran our trial last August enjoyed the weekend and perhaps you might consider throwing in a junior hunter on the same day as your master. That way novice people can see both ends of the hunt test game.:nice work:

Two separate days and I'll probably come. Both on one day, nope. Two much excitement running possible 6 setups. White coats then camo, running back and forth between stakes and call backs. Nope......don't like it.
