I have recently purchased 60 Bob White Quail eggs, I have 25 that are hatched 5 didn't hatch and 30 more that I am just waiting on.. Now I am looking at using some for training but I am going to be keeping some for more eggs so come next year I am pretty certain that I will have lots of Quail eggs if anyone is interested. Let me know and when they start laying I will be looking at selling some of these off.. I am not sure on the price but I will be fair with you guys on this..

I was thinking of trying it next fall. Do you just use a hovabator? We have 2 hovabators that we use to incubate our lizard and snake eggs. Did you get the eggs shipped up from the US or from a place here in Canada?

I got them in Canada, my father in law has a lodge close to where I live and he has a lot of different birds.(bobwhite, chukar, ringnecks and some other kinds of pheasants but I am not sure what kind.) I have 3 incubaters that I am using and I can hatch have about 150 eggs between the 3. I have about 200 more eggs that I am waiting on and I plan on putting an order in for some ringneck chicks for next spring... So if you are interested let me know and when they start laying eggs I will let you know.

Just be careful to check out the 3 MNR regulations covering raising birds in Ontario. Several licenses are required.

I didn't realize that but I live in NB and I will have to look into that for NB to see if there is anything I need here.. Thanks.

It is not terribly difficult to build your own incubator.
I have one that is basically built from a styrofoam cooler, hot water heater thermostat, a 25 watt light and CPU fan out of an old computer. I think that I have about $12 into it.

In case no one has noticed, I like doing things myself. lol

In Ontario there is a limited area one can hunt Bobwhite quail. You can use the Bobwhite for dog training but you will NOT be able to shoot them. You are not allowed to have a firearm in your pocession when you are training with them, that is unless you are on a licenced game farm. In addition if keep the Bobwhite or for that manner any game bird in captivity for over (I believe 14 days) you will need to secure from the Ontario MNR a pocession permit. There is a fee for the pocession permit.
The statement above applies to pheasants as well.

Happy training
