What is the difference between the Shooting Dog and the Gun Dog stakes?

Gun dog stakes are unofficial stakes that some clubs offer to encourage hunter participation.

Judgment stops at he flush -dog doesn't have to be steady to flush or shot. A ribbon is given.


These are not AKC gun dog stakes.

My understanding is that this is an official stake now under US Complete.
It is to be judged the same as a Shooting Dog but judgement ceases at flush.
