The CKC had decided to charge non-CKC-members a surcharge of $3.00 for each FT entry and had a new entry form posted on their website, which was to take effect June 1, 2010. I called them today and they have changed their minds and decided NOT to charge this $3.00 fee, but they will be adding something like $1.50 to each entry that the FT Secretary will have to pay when they send in results - so it seems it will come out of the clubs' pockets. The entry form that is currently on the website has not been changed to properly reflect this so, officially, it means that you can add your membership number if you so desire (just for extra and, in my opinion, useless information) but this information does not have to go in the catalogue and there is no fee even though there is still a space on the entry form for a non-member fee. In other words, just ignore it. And good luck reading and writing in the spaces on the new entry form because as it now stands, without making sizing changes before you print, you will barely be able to read it if you are over 40 and only engineers with tiny writing will be able to fill them in. Perhaps the extra fee should go to the FT secretaries who have to read them!! Good luck. Jill R.

We have been waiting for the other shoe to drop and I think it is half way to the floor the $1.50 added to the recording fee will just be the start. The CKC is $500 000. in deficit for last year and will probably be that much again this year.
i got a call from them the other day to supposedly up date my information I expect the letter asking our tiny kennel club for a donation will come shortly. Muskoka has already got theirs. really don't know how I feel about it. Eden, I and Chris work our tales off doing pet obedience classes and have built up a nice nest egg for the club. I'm not sure I want to give it to an organization that couldn't even get my dog's pedigree right even with the papers for the AKC stud.

So instead of a $3.00 charge to non CKC members ($2.00 to CKC $1.00 to the host club)Now they are asking for a $1.50 charge for them across the board. Is this correct. What branch of the goverment are they again?

That would be correct, I guess they want all the member clubs who provide them with their funds to be as in debt as they are. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander ????Right :rain:

Dear CKC Member,
On April 5, you received a bulletin advising you of the serious financial crisis facing the Canadian Kennel Club. Since that time many of you have been in touch with offers of assistance and support. We appreciate that.
On a positive note with your contributions our revenues are increasing and have brought us to a position to be able to cover our reduced salary requirement and reduced expense load to the end of April.
This week, at the request of the CEO, a committee has been struck to support our management of this financial crisis. The committee is comprised of Lee Steeves, Interim Board Chair, Joe Mauro, CEO, Line Champagne CKC Audit Committee Chair, and Mike Shoreman, a former Chair of Audit. Each member brings to the committee finance and business background and a firm commitment to a stronger Canadian Kennel Club.
In a meeting this week with our full staff we were encouraged by the staff commitment to the organization and their strong desire to be part of the solution in moving the organization forward.
As a member you will see change. There will be efficiencies realized through streamlining of services, some of which have already been begun, while others will be impacted as process improvements are established. An expenditure reduction plan, including impacts on both operating expenses and salaries will be brought forward in the coming days. Your ideas, comments and suggestions are being taken into account as the plan is developed.
It is our firm belief that the Canadian Kennel Club will emerge from this financial crisis and be a stronger and more viable entity. As we have repeatedly stated, our registry is not impacted by the situation in which we find ourselves. The unfortunate rumor that the CKC is bankrupt is just that and has no viability.
Following the stabilization of our cash flow, the committee will finalize a medium term strategy taking the organization to the end of 2010 with recommendations for by-law changes and improvements to ensure that this situation can not repeat itself.
This week Agriculture and Agri/Food Canada has been advised that a plan has begun assured that the registry is on a solid foundation and is not compromised and that the CKC will continue in its present form with modifications necessary to ensure our financial viability. That information has been received with an offer by Agriculture and Agri/Food Canada of full support and an assurance that they are strongly behind this organization.
With reductions of expenditures, optimization of our revenue potential and analysis of opportunities for improved revenue streams we look forward to a bright future.
We thank you for your continued support and encourage you to stay in touch.

I have a letter dated April 6th from the CKC that was sent out to all club presidents and secretaries asking for us to appeal to our membership to donate $1000.00 to the CKC to help them out.
I'm sure we are not the only club to have received this letter. We could help them this way but then we would have to cancel our trial and then we could probably disband our club. Think we'll keep our $1000.00 and put on a trial and then send them what they get and wait and see if they still ask for more.
Let me know if we are the only ones feeling this way

Check out the National sign as you will find the entry form is all updated.
Hope all you people use it and fill it out online and send a printed copy for your entry.
Maybe you can read your hen scratching but we are not all interpreters.
