I have long suffered with gout, and nothing much seemed to help. So after 5 days of walking with a walker, I decided to try no meat for a month. I had been told that it may be a problem digesting protein. Well the wife was at the doc's and mentioned what I was trying. The doc said "That's a great idea, it may work better if he did it for 3 months."
Great :thmdn:
I've made it a month so far, it hasn't been too bad, and I have certainly noticed an improvement in my gout. But there are somedays I would kill for a nice steak.
There are some really tasty meat alternatives out there. Veggie hotdogs and veggie bacon are NOT among those tasty alternatives.
Anyone else tried the vegetarian thing?

I personally couldn't do the veggie thing, I'm just a hardcore carnivore. But a close friend of my wife is a veg head. We have had dinner at there place in the past. Lots of pasta, salads fruit and so on. We also stayed at there cottage last summer, I had a veggie burger that was really tasty and the veggie bacon she had wasn't bad either.
Lots of cook books out there. If you like to cook or experiment in the kitchen it could be almost fun.
All the best bud...

Had someone tell me once that they ate a lot of tofu and that it was not that bad, when you cook with it tofu kind of takes on the taste of the stuff it is being cooked with.
Told them  "I might like it if you cooked it with some meat"
Just sayin

thats too funny. First time i had tofu it was really good, it was cooked by a pro, the other times not so good. I would die if I could not eat meat. On the other hand it may be killing me slowly anyway I have been barbequing steady 4-5 times per week since May ....

Not a vegetarian, never could be, I like my steak still saying "moo" when it lands on my plate. :dribble:
However, try the Vegetarian "Lick's" burgers, they're actually really good.

The Lick's burgers are about the best non meat product I have found. As long as you don't convince yourself that it's gonna taste like hamburger.
My neighbour was kind enough to tell me about the all you can eat place he tried last night. $10 and you can eat as much steak as you want.
The end of August can't get here soon enough.
