Why do some people think its smart or funny or .....to throw broken glass in the water. My dog sliced up his front pad yesterday retrieving a fun bumper in the sandy shallows of the river where we train because some imbecile thought it would be agood idea to throw his broken beer bottle into the water. These idiots are the scum of the earth.

There I'm done...don't feel any better though.

sorry to hear about your dog but if your going to train in areas were you can`t control who comes or gains entry to the property you will have to walk the property every time to make sure it is safe to run on .here the rule is you drop it you pick it up or if you see something on the ground pick it up we check the property everyday and the people that come to train here know how it helps them out also it provides them with a clean and safe inviroment for them and there dogs so take a few minutes check out were you train and save that trip to the vets .so hunt smart hunt with a trained retriever

I think we all know how you feel. I sure do! However, childish and ignorant behaviour such as that is unfortunately rampant in a 'me me me' society, and nobody seems to think about the consequences of their actions. Graffiti is another example. They ruin someone else's property (and day) because they're too stupid to realize what they're doing is senseless. Jackasses. Rant all you like.

Thanks for the inquiries. The dog will be fine; just a week or two to heal up. After the blood stopped (and there was alot ) I could see that the glass sliced the skin off of about a third of this left front pad; no stitches required. I could have been much worse.
As for checking for hazards before runnning....sounds easy and I agree you should where you can, but in this case the weeds and brackish water make seeing glass under water virtually impossible. I suspect that most duck ponds are the same.
The experience goes to show that there are idiots everywhere even in duck ponds.

Is this a public training area and a place that should be avoided. If it is, maybe you could name the location so nobody else gets sliced.

It's just about any public park. Last year my dawg sliced his paw on a freshly mowed beer can in a public park.
