Hi Andrew, I would love to see a picture of this trap, Im having a hard time getting birds. But know of several farmers in my area that would let me put up such a trap. As far as answering your question, Pigeons eat several kinds of seeds including sunflower, so I guess it would depend on what other birds this trap might bring in. I know corn is bigger and would help stop some of the smaller birds from robbing your bait, plus it is very visable from the air. What a cool idea for getting pigeons, never seen one before! :greenwithenvy:

I got the trap from gundogsupply.com... http://www.gundogsupply.com/-3728-.html
It gives some suggestions on there but Im sure different people have their own ideas that work great as well. Now that I have it, i want some birds to train with NOW!! LOL..Andrew

"Loose lips sink ships." Don't talk about this too much folks, you need a license to trap even pigeons. Yea that sucks too.

Your right Spear, that does suck, but I cant see needing a license to catch what is considered a pest for most farmers. They eat alot of freshly seeded fields, poop all over the stored hay the farmer has to feed his stock, not to mention what the acid in their droppings can do to steel bridges and such. But I'm sure you have a point, and breaking the law is not one of my choices. But I will Phone the ministry to get the bylaws for my area. Thank you for the valuable warning. Looked up some more pics, on the net, and I could build one of these in a day for next to no cost. :opps:

In London the bylaws for keeping pigeons are strictly enforced if a complaint is received. One statement says that," you can only keep banded pigeons - no wild pigeons".

Now I am a law-abiding citizen, Jim. However, when it comes to pigeons my mind sometimes let's me down. How many was it now? And how big did that pen have to be? And what permit did I need?

Just do it. Keep your flock small and replenish it as you use it. The letter of the law is good and is usually used when something goes too far and people are bothered. Be reasonable.

Great advice Spear. The good thing about pigeons is that they are quieter the quail. My neibours hated when I had quail in the back yard, they are up and singing at 4 am or earlier. I love the sound of it and have no problem sleeping through it, not all of my neibours felt the same......:emmbarassed:
No one called the city to complain but one did come talk to me about it.
no one has complained about Chukars or pigeons yet though.
