I really have had fun times running HRC hunt tests in Ontario and PA, but there is only one HRC club in NY state and it is on Long Island which is 7+ hours, even for me. Tests in PA and Ontario are closer believe it or not.
A few friends and I from my waterfowl club are throwing around the idea about starting up a new HRC club here in western NY state - probably HQ'd in the Rochester, NY area.
Just wondering if there is interest in folks from Ontario venturing down to NY state for hunt tests in the future if this happens. Tests would probably be run somewhere within an hour radius of the Rochester, NY area - anywhere from 1 to 2 hours from the Niagara Falls border about 3 to 4 hours from Alexandria Bay, NY at the border.
We would love to hear from you, please vote above.
Thanks!

Nick,
You know where the Luther Marsh HRC guys are on this.
It would be just as far to western NY for most of our members as it would be to Georgian Bay HRC and Lake Ontario HRC hunt tests.
There was talk a few years back from a guy in your area (Garland Shishler) about starting a club in western NY. Like yourself he was a regular at the Luther Marsh HRC test, but then we have not seen him in the past 3 or 4 years. Not sure what happened.
In any case, most (if not all) of our guys would love to have another club and hunt test that close!!

Absolutely, count me in. Might even be able to drag my parents from Watertown to come and check out what I do with my spare time.

Thanks Mike. I like the folks up at your club! We won't be able to make it this year. Thanks for the offer to help out when the time comes.

Thanks for your input Randy. I am certain that a bunch of you would make the trip on down.

Kevin,
I think that you are right about a significant Canadian contingent and their dogs coming on down. It is just motivating the folks around here that may not know anything about the HRC yet interested.
I checked on Mapquest and it said 6 hours from Essex to Rochester which is less than Kingston and not much more than Georgian Bay so the distance is reasonable.
If you could pick a w/e that is not in conflict with any other clubs in Region 1 or 7 I would think you would do ok.

Thanks Tim. Date conflicts are something that I will be trying to avoid.

Any test less than 12 hours from home works for me. Considering GBHRC is the closest club to me at 4 1/2 to 5 hrs. I consider Rochester fairly close. Just make sure you schedule the test on a weekend I'm not working.

That would be a very important consideration when planning anything, you don't want to comete with any tests in region 1

I plan to run more USA test next year even if they conflict with region 1 test. It would be about time to see western New York base HRC...Good luck and you know we ALL will be there to help out, that's what makes HRC different from the rest out their.
