Any of you guys ever get into Brant along Georgian Bay, Lake Simcoe, Lake Ontario or the St. Lawrence River?

I think with this NW wind coming up they will be moving big time from Hudson Bay/James Bay the next few days and then they will be gone down to NJ/MD/NY/VA/DE.

I get into them along the south shore of Lake Ontario when the wind and timing is right. Here are some pics from years back with my old AWS.

Two juvie brant swimming in the center of the spread.

I have taken two in a lot of years hunting the Lake St. Lawrence area. both times they have been mixed in with lessers, personally I have never seen a whole flock of Brant.

I've heard that they taste like mud.
Yes? No?

No - they taste like a mallard to me here in the freshwater. It is when they get down to sea coast and start eating sea lettuce (you can see green coming out the vent) that they start tasting bad.

Tried hunting Friday and Sunday - no go - decoyed Canadas, swans, lawn darts and some buffies but all are closed. Did see a couple of flocks of brant on Sunday AM but further out.
