Bark Collars

Ok, its time for me to purchase a bark collar. What is the best one out there? Are the sportdog brand stuff good?

The Tri-tronic one is very good.

I have the Tri-Tronics, and like it very much. If they made it with a cradle it would be even better. Changing the battery is irritating... but it works well, and that's all it needs to do ;)

The tri-tronics collar has a counter so you know how many times the dog got a correction. Having the counter will let you know if the dog has been barking or whining when you weren't around.

Tried the Sport Dog. My girl barked right threw it. Admittedly, she was a nut case. but she didn't bark through the TT bark collar.

I went to a fun hunt today in Michigan, the dawg started whining on the honor in the morning, put the bark collar on him when I put him in his kennel, set for #4, all quiet for the rest of the day, he got poked twice according to the counter.
Score: TriTronics 2, Dawg 0

I know this is dangerous to do in a room full of guys with guns that are all screaming "Tri-Tronics!" but I have the Sport Dog bark collar and it's worked quite well for me. And it's cheap at $75. I like the fact that the levels go up gradually on their own, so if the dog continues to bark the corrections increase. I'm sure the TriTronics one is better, and a counter sounds like a good thing to have, but I'm sure it's probably a lot pricier too! For the price I'm quite happy with the Sport Dog One! And when they die (which mine hasn't yet) they make great dummy collars ;)

Well If anyone would know about noisy dogs it would be a toller owner. Just kidding sportdog are so, so with the relability I want a collar that I know is going to do the job every time. We have had great success with the TT so that is where we stay They will run ya about 120.00 a bit more but worth every quiet penny.

My dog is pretty reliable on his "here" command, but ever since I started using the bark collar......my regular e-collar doesn't even bother him. He just ignores me now.

No it shouldn't, may have made him a little more tolerant to the stimulation though. Turn your collar up a bit and see if that helps.

Hi Rocko, check to see if you have the long points, not the short ones, also test the collar on your arm to see if its working. If it is then you have the settings to low, turn them up until you get a reaction from the dog. He might have got use to light shocks, but trust me, when you turn it up, he will remember why its on him. :dog: :idea:
