Just read my CKC Newsletter starting Jan 1 2011 the CKC will be charging a tracking fee to people are Canadian residents but are non CKC members. You can choose to join the CKC or pay a $55.00 fee to cover clerical costs for recording and tracking points. You must choose within 30 days of receiving notification. If you don't then the CKC will cancel any awards or titles.
Knew they would not leave this one alone.

Is it going to be 55 dollars every time you pass a hunt test or get points at a feild trial? If so i think i will just stick to UKC events!

The wording in the newsletter says " In order to cover the clerical costs of recording and tracking points earned at a CKC event, a participating non member can chose to purchase a CKC membership or pay a dog specific tracking fee (55.00). This only applies to dogs wholly owned by nonmembers and is not applicable to CKC members or dogs owned with a CKC member."
it looks like a flat fee for the year but the part that is unclear is "dog specific" does this mean that if you own more than one dog you will have to pay $55.00 to track each dog owned.
Doesn't say anything about American dogs. Maybe they will accept AKC membership or up the cost of an ERN.
Not a very nice way to encourage membership.

That is a $55.00 fee per dog
I thought there is a fee from each entry for this service already
Total BS

That's the whole point of the exercise to increase membership. We aready belong. Husband had to be a member to get the member prices when registering pups because his name is on all our dogs papers as a co:owner. When he wasn't a member I paid nonmember fees to register.
It will be interesting to see what other fee increases they come up with.

I am also a member of CKC but thats not the point. Each club already pays a fee for each dog entered so what they are doing is just wrong.I'm not planning to enter much CKC stuff this year so I'll probably let the membership lapse.Their focus is around the show world anyway and any field stuff is secondary.

Question: So if I wanted to come up and run the boys, I should become a CKC member so if we get a title, the title will be recognized?

This is just another cash grab by the CKC and is just more BS i have become so disdane of the ckc and only use the UKC to paper my dogs !! a lot could be learned from the UKC by the CKC !!the last litter of pups i papered with the ckc ,after i sent in the papers and check i recived a letter that they got the paper work but no check and i would have to pay more money as the date was now later !!!only after fax the bank stament proving they had cashed the check did they back off on there demans for more money !!Dealing with UKC has never left a bad tast in my mouth !! i cant say the same for the CKC now i just dont bother with it !!and i think there just fine with that !!!I dont own a pink pair of rubber boots so i never though i fit in any way !!!!!
Doesn't the UKC charge non-members more money to enter their events? So people wanting to save money might think to join, same thing the CKC is trying right now.
