I am thinking about breeding a dog doing surgical AI... I want to cover the bitch with two different stud dogs.

What I need to know is the procedures for registering the pups, the cost to have this done, basicaly what do I need to do?

I am looking for comment on registering and costs involved only. Please do not comment on why I wish to do the breeding this way... Thank you...

If you have done this in the past please let me know the pros and cons of a breeding like this...

Thank you Lee

Lee,

Contact Carol at the CKC office in the registration department. She is usually very helpful. The only person I heard that did that was Mrs. Swingle with ICE and she then had to do DNA testing to register with the AKC. But I believe their dogs have DNA profiles.

Hi Lee

I think its a valuable tool good for you- more people are doing it. You will need to DNA test all 3 parents and each puppy- you can do this with Healthgene out of Mississauga (www.healthgene.com)with blood or cheek cell swabs, this is $48.00 each dog tested. The CKC looks like you will need to clarify for sure total costs above usual as i see they have Litter Reg'd with AI/Frozen semen $11.50, bet they also charge regular Litter Reg of $21.90 ontop of that, and a Multiple Sire at $87.80.

Best of luck- hope you get out of what you are after.
