It was very sad to hear about the 11 year old child that was shot to death on Satursday. The child was caught in the crossfire of waring gangs.
As much as it pains me to hear horrific stories like this, it infuriates me to see politicians jump on the opportunity to increase their standings among the voters by jumping all over the lack of gun control in this country.
These are gangs do they really think that their guns are legal. How the hell would banning hand guns help?
Stronger punishment to those that offend! How about a collar on 6 high on a guys(your choice location)!:strangle: Enough said!
It is truly sad when the lowlife injure someone innocent, and your right about the politicians.
But the pol's are talking to the "sheeple", and as long as they listen, the pol's will keep talking. An uninformed-misinformed public is a politicians best friend.
Convicted killers used to get a 6 high, but it was from "sparky".

You're right all legal handguns in Canada have been registered for years. I don't think the ones used over the weekend fit that description. I really don't think they were stolen from legal owners either. Perhaps instead of making it so hard for ordinary folks to travel back and forth to the States they need to consentrate on what is coming this way illegally. This is one of my hobby horses so I will shut up now.
A 6 ft drop of a scaffold is also another solution, a real quick rehabilitation.

No no... I'm sure it was an Xtrema II that was used in this shooting... in Max 4HD of course... So frustrating... More reason to support the NFA

It is truly ashame that this happened and I feel for the family of this boy but what really pisses me off is that those bleeding heart Liberals prey on moments like this to push their adgenda on the Canadian Voter's.
The liberals have never been able to see the forest from the tree's, they always blame guns and gun ownership for the problems of today's society and it is the un-informed city dwellers's ( or City-idiots as I refer to them) that believe it. We all know the gun had nothing to do with the murder of that poor boy, it was the gang banger that was holding it.
If you take the same mentality of this and apply it to a fatal auto accident then it is not the driver's fault, it is the car's fault. Should we ban cars?

Here's the thing that pisses me off. Some of these neighbourhoods are ROUGH, we all know it, certainly the people that live there know it. When something like this happens everybody tells the paper that the community should join together, speak up and be heard. But when the lights and cameras go away, they don't cooperate. When the police pull into a complex, people watch and signal to everyone else that the police are there.
I understand that they are afraid, but personally I would be more afraid of my 11 yr old getting hurt, then I would be afraid of them doing something to me. If change is going to happen it's not going to be from a handgun ban or any other law they pass. The change has to come from the people inside these communities stepping up and a) cooperating with investigations and calling in tips and b) taking a good look at their own families and not letting their kids get involved in gangs in the first place.
And the other thing that may help as one of my old sargeants used to say, the worst thing that ever happened to policing was installing A\C in the cars.

So true Verno, good post !! A family friend is a retired cop from TO and he rarely ever talks about his years working the force but when he does open up it is truly frightening what he has seen. He has basicly said the same as you many times over, if the people are not willing to co operate with the police than thier hands are tied.
