Revisiting basic OB with Abbie to steady her up. Using a place board and no pressure. Worked with her for an hour today, she sat and didn't move off the board except at heel. Keep on that process and gradually intro differant excitement factors a little at a time.

:nice work:

I used a place board to teach my dawg to be steady as well, and used bumpers, dokkens, and then birds. I don't use the board as much now, but if I see movement I will pick up the bird myself the dawg knows why.
I think that when the dawg teaches itself ( by using the board) to be steady the excitement at a test won't have as much effect on them either.

Yeh, I've decided to teach the place board. To help my pup with her steadiness.

Anybody know any good articles on how to do this?

I used a piece of cloth rather than an actual board. I used the cloth to teach "place" in the house and then transitioned it outside.

I got an excellent piece off the net, if I can find it again, I'll pm it too you. I use that combined with some words of wisdom from AD18. It is really coming together. The little girl is showing some improvement when it comes to her steadiness, she hardly moved last night with the introduction the duck call and a shot from a primer pistol.

I'll do some searching on line and I'll get it to you as soon as I can...we're at a wedding tomorrow and not back until Monday, so look for it then...
