Training in Southern States

I know some people send their dogs south for the winter for training but does anyone go south for a week or two to run their dogs.

The reason I ask is I am considering heading to Florida, Geogia, Louisiana, Alabama or Texas in the winter to train for a week or two in January or February and get away from the cold.

I thought about it but always worried about the snakes and gators, I think if you get with a local trainer or club it would be ok. Would be a good time meeting different people and seeing their setups.

I was talking to a trainer from Florida and she mentioned that there is no one she knows that uses dogs to hunt. Most of the water that has birds holds gators or the potential to.

We started our season in march in Virginia its a nice way to getaway and have fun with the dogs. We will be doing it again this year possibly heading to south Carolnia also.
