If you've ever tried to find a cottage operator that allows guests to bring dogs, you know how hard it can be. We were fortunate enough to find such a place and we spent this past week at a cottage on a body of water where we enjoy fishing. After not being able to take the dog on our last trip  I was really excited to be able to bring him along. :clap2:

Our cottage was situated along the water and we had our own private dock right out front. That is where Dax spent 75% of his vacation. The other 25% was spent out in the boat, eating and sleeping. During the hours he was awake, I don't think his fur ever had a chance to dry. It was awesome to see him so happy.

Now that being said, this trip was a test of his dock jumping skills. We were pleasantly surprised when our first toy throw off the end of the dock resulted in him jumping right in, no hesitation whatsoever. His style was a bit sloppy, bellyfloppish really, but it improved greatly throughout the week. By the end of the week he looked like an ol' pro.

Anyways, here are some of the pictures from the trip.

Dax getting some downtime, although it didn't happen very often!

He also got to get out in the boat a lot, which he really enjoyed. He only tried to chase one musky lure. After being tied up in the boat for the rest of that trip, he learned his lesson! :amen:

This was his "Mommy! Can I go swimming again?" look. Who could say no?

I always wonder what he's dreaming about when his little legs start kicking around like mad. I think that now he's dreaming of this vacation, it was like paradise to him. Until next year I guess!

Good job. Just wouldn't be a good vacation if you have to leave a family member behind!

Can you give me the name of the lake/cottage operator, as you're absolutely right, it's impossible to find somewhere that allows dogs

Tell me about it Jixer, I shed a few tears when I had to leave him last time. I don't want to have to do that again.

Frank, this is the place we stayed. I'm happy to spread the word about them, there aren't too many operators out there that take our little critters into consideration.

It is on the trent water system (Percy Boom area) with excellent fishing at your doorstep. The cottages and grounds are well kept and the cottages have hot and cold water, showers, fridge, stove and microwave. They are nothing really splashy but they offer what you need. Their prices are also extremely reasonable.

Over the course of the winter the place changed ownership. It appears as though the new owners are honouring the promises of the old owners (ie; allowing dogs). Hopefully they continue with it, if so we will definitely be back. If in the future you decide to book with them, you might want to double-check with them about the dogs to ensure they are carrying on with the old tradition. If not, I think they will lose a lot of their annual returning clients. I don't think there were too many cottages without pooches while we were there.

No steeples this go 'round Verno. The weather for the week was all over the map and the fish seemed to have shut down. The muskies anyways!

No kidding Ross. He's probably around 60 pounds now and his chest has just started to fill in. :emmbarassed:
