Wish I had a dog to run up there -- great memories of running the Soo -- great grounds -- great people -- great trial -- so I'm going to miss out on

I was supposed to go to Kap this weekend as well, but just to watch. i was going to put Pyper in the juniors, but all of the sudden she stopped doing doubles and I haven't been able to get her to do them since. i am thinking about going to the sault to watch, but have to figure out a way to swing the vacation time.....gotta work that weekend..

Hi Debbie, What do you mean, your dog stopped doing doubles, do you mean she will do one retrieve and no more. Its really to bad you cant run your dog in JR at sault. If your dog is retrieving to hand, all she has to do is make two land and two water in JR, not doubles. I hope you can get her ready! :dog:

Debbie is referring to Junior stake in Soo FT -- doubles on both land and water -- and usually a cheating type of water setup too -- sorry Debbie to hear that Pyper has "stopped" doing doubles -- tell us more?!?!? -- maybe somebody on here can advise solution

Hey guys.
Pyper got her JH and WC last year over a weekend test, but she could have done her WCI, only at that time she had no honor to speak of...
She has been doing doubles quite successfully, and all of the sudden she stopped. She would mark the birds both very well, go for the first one like a bat out o' hell and then when I would line her up for he second bird, she would start bouncing around, bop my hands with her nose, sometimes bark. I call her to heel, line her up and she would take a step or two and then look at me as it to say...WHAT THE %$#@ are ya askin me to do lady...

I have a few holes to fill in, so I was backtracking, and was doing TT for a while, but in my ignorance, there wasn't much marks. Time was limited, so I figured it was better then doing nothing, so alot of the days were just yard work. I am not sure if that had anything to do with it, but ...

so I have tried to retrain her to do doubles. Start at the sideof the house, toss one then the other and then both....nice flat ground. She will get the doubles if I throw or place them and come back to her side, but haveing someone else toss them, and she turns into a retard for the second bird. I am not sure how much further I can backtrack. and it is totally frustrating because I am not sure if I did something to stop her and even more frustrated that I can't figure out how to get her back on track. it actually puts a lump in my throat (i am such a baby...)

Any suggestions from you guys would be more then appreciated. I was told not to worry about it right now and keep doing the yard work and singles, but give her challenges with the singles.
My older dog is doing well, but I can't use too much pressure on him. He is a softy.

Debbie.

Debbie,
Might be worth starting a new thread in the training section, cut and paste your post into there where more people will see it and you may get more replys.

Thanks for the heads up, ducksoup, is there any place I can read about this to educate myself. i never knew there was more then one kind of JR. Sorry Debbie, but I still wish you the best, and hope you can run her. :stupid:
