Hey Gang,

I was watching Dave Rorem's " The Art and Science of Handling Retrievers" last night and it got me to thinking about something I noticed back in the early summer at the SWORTC's Trial at Hullet.

In the 1st series of Qualifying it was a land triple then a blind ( to make 4 birds). The line was located at the top of a dike and all of the marks were down in the "flatlands". Anyways I was gunning out in the field and one thing I noticed was every handler wore a white jacket. From the field and also from the dog's point of view through out all the marks the handler blended into the background as behind them was nothing but sky.....

So here's the question.... why would you wear a white jacket when you could opt to wear a black jacket and stand out more, thus making it easier for the dog to see you and your cast's. According to Rorem if you are up against a light background wear a dark jacket, if you are up against a dark background you would wear white.

Any thought's????

Drew

Dave said it as well as I could -- white against dark background and black against light background -- what about people wearing black shirts in HTs ???? -- many do as it is "dark clothing"?!?!?
